PORTFOLIO

Thank you for visitng OceanID Productions. My portfolio is currently undergoing a redesign. As more samples are finalized, I will post them.

Articulate Sample

I have started playing with articulate to develop work samples. I have based the following sample project on the content in the New York State/OASAS Project. This is a very short sample of my capabilities in Articulate. I recorded the voice overs as well as designed the templates. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

New York State/OASAS

During my work for Axiom Resource Management, in their Didactics division, I got to work on a project for New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (NY OASAS). NY OASAS has a system that allows treatment providers to enter data about their clients (patients) manually or upload the data into the system. Even with a web application to to enter the date, users were still having difficulty properly collecting and entering the data, assuming the data were entered at all.

To assist users with this process, the NY OASAS developed a WBT on the data collection and system, and a dozen simulation tutorials to help users navigate the system more efficiently and effectively. I had the pleasure to work as the primary developer and instructional designer on these projects.

The simulations were particularly challenging. Though OASAS had original tutorials, they did not have the original development files or any documentation used when creating the tutorials. Additionally, the system had been updated since the originals were produced so that the workflow documented in the original tutorials were not accurate. In order to produce these tutorials, I had to redocument the processes and develep scripts for the tutorials. The scripts included all on-screen text, any actions taken during the demonstration, any actions required by the users, and all feedback given to the user after correct/incorrect actions. Finally, I created a style guide for the tutorials, which was an addendum to the style guide created for the WBT courses developed.

The OASAS Staff then reviewed these documents and then I produced the simulations using Adobe Captivate. Once the OASAS staff reviewed the tutorial, I made any final changes. After all of the tutorials were complete, Didactics provided OASAS with all documentation, the source files for the tutorials, and the final output for web deployment. For each tutorial, we created a matching user guide so that users could print out a reference document to use while working in the system.

The simulation tutorials are available online at the NY OASAS Application web site. They are under the "Online Tutorials" tab on the right hand side under the sub-heading "Data Entry Tutorials". The page on "How to receive your CASAC clock hours" was not part of the training I produced. The User Guides are also available on this page under the "User Guides" tab next to the "Online Tutorials" tab.

The Web Based Training courses are also available on the page listed above. If you select the "Online Tutorials" tab, there is a sub-heading called "Management/Clinicians Courses".
